Last night I was walking down the streets of Bangalore enjoying the cold breeze. Suddenly I noticed the street was fully lightened. It was strange for me, I have never seen a street light there before .Walking further down to half a mile ,i noticed a Ganesha statue. Now I found the reason. The atheist in me woke up. What's the need of wasting so much of power for this reason. Praying God is different , I can even accept the offerings that are given to GOD as it is given to someone or the other. But what is the need of wasting so much of resource when we are in scarcity. I agree this is a custom or tradition that we are following, but what was the tradition before electricity was found may be oil lights? What were we doing before that?
THIS POST IS NOT TO CREATE AN AWARENESS or something. This is just an outburst of my emotions and frustration. This really doesn't have a grammar.
What are the normal quotes that we comes across daily. Save power, Save water, Save fuel. Are we really doing that? Greatest happiness in life is giving something to someone and seeing happiness in their face. If that's the case then what are we gonna give to the next generation? People are just living a very very selfish life, they want to live in luxury when they are alive but they don't want to think about their next generation. I am ashamed but the reality is I am one among them.
A day might come when people may STOP fighting for land, money and wealth but there will be mass burials because of water scarcity. Am just wondering what are we going to leave for our next generation?? Scarcity of water, polluted air, 0% of mineral resources.
How to stop this? Is there a way an individual can save something for next generation? Suggest me i will try to follow it. Waiting to hear it from you guys.
If you believe in GOD please pray to him so that our future generation live their life in luxury the same way as we are.

Wonderful thoughts Giri and nicely penned down. The problem here is not the system, not GOD nor the resources. Problem is us. People like you and me. What are WE doing to change all this? We are not as much lifting a finger to change all this. Leave our parents. Leave that generation. Even this generation to which we belong, does nothing but complain. When we step out of our comfort and do something, only then will be able to address all these.
ReplyDeleteHope we wake up and do those little things that might make a difference.
Buddy.. you get my vote..i completely agree with you.. but tell me whats the point in venting out our anger this way.. i personally believe that we should lead by example..in other words,'we ll have to be change that we want to see'.. even if there is one person who is following us, it is 100% Return on investment..
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts Giri but whats the USe. You Posted the blog, Anusha , me.. and many will post comments. Later after few days you will carry on with your work. Those who commented will also forget. Not only the electricity, I remember that every year during this festival, for sure two mails will be jumping between many inboxes. One HAPPY WISHES , 2nd STOP POLLUTING the SEA showing the pictures of the reamins of the idols in the shore, after few days of idols being thrown into the sea. Whats the use of forwarding such mails to others. Take the list of people who took an initiative to stop that in practical. it will not be just even one. We should try to do something other than BLOGS and MAILS, as these will reach only few percentage of people. We should try finding out some way to let these thoughts reach people of Not Whole INDIA atleast just the community or area we live in.
ReplyDeleteGrt thts. Penned neatly. Good flow. Be the initiator than to wait for someone to be. A penny saved is penny gained na? Shutting down your machines when not in use, switching off the light/fan when not in use, Closing the water tap properly are the basic level I think. But If u calculate, these forms the vital. If u do, ur deeds may provoke someone to follow. I have started these, dint u?

ReplyDeleteBe the change that you want to see. Nice quote .Am trying my best to be the change. It wont happen over night but i have taken my first step and am happy about my first step. As they say every mile starts with the first step. Hope i reach a mile minimum. Am not target anyone in particular. Just being an atheist this thought invoked in me when i saw this event. Am not against them , just that i need to start correcting myself
